What’s New With Cuppy?

Last time I posted half a year ago, I said I was back in WoW (Dragonflight) and that I’d be posting here more. Welp, in typical ME fashion, that didn’t happen. Life is hard, you know?

Just as I predicted, I got to max level and then quit. I didn’t engage with the tradeskill professions, never ran any dungeons, didn’t raid, didn’t do much of anything. I stopped playing WoW, and since then I’ve been off & on with FFXIV but haven’t picked Dragonflight back up. I’m not sure why, can’t quite put my finger on it. It’s the coziest of games for me and I just love playing it, but it’s been a challenge to fit it into my life.

I have to be honest that it’s kind of hard to even consider myself a gamer lately. Sure, I still follow the game industry closely and I can tell you so much about the games that have released and I live & breathe the games space — but playing them is a different story. I’ve dived into some games a little bit. I played some of Diablo IV when it released, and still intend to go back and at least finish the campaign. I played a bit of Honkai Star Rail when it launched, and still intend to go back to that. I’ve played a bunch of Disney Dreamlight Valley. Some indie games and multiplayer games with my coworkers, like Across the Obelisk, Overwatch 2, Golf With Your Friends, and the new Starship Troopers Extermination game. But nothing seems to hold my interest for very long.

Lately I am almost exclusively splitting my free time between my sewing projects, reading books, and watching a bit of TV (but even that has fallen to the back burner). I don’t get a ton of free time (maybe 2 hours a day at night, if I’m lucky). I’m reading a few books a month, which is a lot more than I ever did before. I dove head first into sewing as my primary hobby — making cute clothes for my kids (and soon myself as well). It’s just so enjoyable and cathartic to be crafty and make useful things that I find it hard to prioritize gaming nowadays. I’m sure as my kids grow things will shift again.

Right now I’m primarily excited for cozy MMO Palia to release, along with some random smaller games. Otherwise it’s home projects that fuel me — building out a beautiful backyard space for my family, upgrading our atrium to be a play space for my boys, gardening, home decor. I’ve really fallen in love with all things cozy and home-y.

So anyway, that’s what’s going on here. I’d like to say I’ll be back to post more about board games my family has been enjoying, book reviews, maybe some sewing project updates. But knowing myself, I’ll see y’all in 6 months! ❤
