Oh boy, it’s been a few months….

I just loaded up the blog and noticed that I haven’t written anything since June.  Well sue me, it’s the summer and it’s been a beautifully mild one in San Diego.  I’ve been spending time outdoors with my crazy horse, working on fitness stuff, and unfortunately blogging has taken the back seat.  So has gaming, really.  Admittedly I haven’t been spending much time gaming, though I do have SOME updates.

I just got into the beta for Blizzard’s Hearthstone, their take on a card battling game in the same vein as Magic the Gathering.  It’s pretty spectacular.  I’m not terribly good at these kind of games, but I think Blizzard has managed to take the formula from SOE’s Legends of Norrath, added extreme levels of polish, and set this fun game in the popular Warcraft universe.  I have to be honest that I’m loving playing as Malfurion, taking out other notables like Thrall and Jaina.  It seems to be doing pretty well, even though it’s in a limited beta.  I’ve noticed a lot of League of Legends players talking about how hooked they are on Hearthstone, and there are even currently 27,000 people watching players stream the game on Twitch.TV. That’s second only to League of Legends in terms of viewership right now, which is pretty awesome.

I’ve only just really started to get into the meat of things in Hearthstone, but so far I’m having fun playing the Druid.  I’d like to try playing the Shaman next because the totem ability seems kind of fun.

500159610I also recently beat Gone Home, a fantastic indie adventure/exploration game.  I don’t want to give away any spoilers about it, but if I were to make a game all on my own — this is what I’d want to make.  It’s beautiful environmental storytelling, has wonderful female characters, and it’s just so artfully done.  It’s about 2-3 hours to play, so it’s not too time consuming and it’s a great diversion from other meatier games.

Finally, my company The Playforge just released Zombie Farm Escape, a free endless runner (think Temple Run) in the charming and silly Zombie Farm universe for iOS.  Check it out!

I’m craving an MMO but there just isn’t anything out there that I want to play.  I’m contemplating picking up the new Final Fantasy MMO when it launches.  I’ve also been trying to decide if I want to go back and play WoW casually again.  I haven’t really been playing League of Legends, but I watch the pro scene diligently and even scored some tickets to the world finals in Anaheim for October!  I’m going to TRY to blog more, but dammit that means I have to GAME MORE which is something I’ve been bad at actually doing lately.  Bleh.
